Annie's Girls
Annie Girl Doll, Pearl
Pearl flaunts her elder grey and white curly hair as she wears a sassy red batik patterned dress. Over her shoulder she holds a black & red print gauze shawl with matching turban. Her outfit is accented with a dark purple beaded choker and shell brooch. She carries a basket of red and purple berries in her straw basket. Measures 14 inches tall.
Michele Sapp is the artist who creates these wonderful dolls called, "Annie's Girls". Michele's Grandmother, Annie, was a very independent, proud and spirited African-American woman who never forgot her humble beginnings. She was blessed with a loving family, wealth of talent and the amazing gift of "creating something from nothing". She saw beauty in the most common of objects. These One-Of-A-Kind Dolls are a tribute to her unique gifts and vision. It is Michele's hope that they embody the regal beauty and enduring spirit of not only her grandmother, but that of all women as well. Michele Sapp's work can also be seen at the Detroit Institute of Art Gift Shop.
